The tranquillity of island getaways with images of crystal clear waters, beautiful corals and exotic marine life is the inspiration for Royal Selangor's latest collection, Island.
Encompassing bath and home accessories, the collection features organic forms and textures influenced by beachcombing finds.
Designed to sit solo or as multiples, vases are gorgeous, with textured surfaces that invite touch. They are named for tropical islands like Boracay, Lombok and Pangkor, evocative of balmy evenings, technicolour sunsets and turquoise waters.
Redang is the main island of an archipelago off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Measuring 7km long and 6km wide, it is the largest island in the marine archipelago. It is an important conservation site for turtles. Historically, it contains two shipwrecks - The HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse.
Pangkor is located off the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Historically a well-known refuge for fishermen, pirates and merchants, it is now a low-key tourist destination with fine white beaches. Fishing and fish products remain as major industries.
Boracay is the westernmost island in the Western Visayas archipelago in the Phillipines. The island is approximately seven kilometers long, dog-bone shaped with the narrowest spot being less than one kilometer wide, and has a total land area of 10.32 square kilometers. White beaches and jewel-blue seas cover the two main tourist beaches - The White Beach and Bulabog Beach, both on opposite sides of the island.
The Andaman Islands are a group of islands in the Bay of Bengal and part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Union Territory of India. There are 576 islands in the group, 26 of which are inhabited. The length of the island chain is 352 km and its greatest width is 51 km. Previously inaccesible, these scenic and picturesque islands shimmer like emeralds in the bay and is well noted as one of the World's paradise islands by tourists.
Other than the vases, other home accessories include bath accessories, comprising of soap dish, soap dispenser, canister and beakers that are extremely tactile, enhanced through the soft sensuous lustre of pewter.
